Welcome Matlo to the x5 Academy

We're happy to welcome aboard the Starcraft 2 Academy Levi Smith (aka Matlo). We were impressed from the outset by his attitude, willingness to listen, learn and in particular his general enjoyment and passion for Starcraft.

When we found out that he had progressed from bronze to masters in less than a year on just a laptop (with no external keyboard), the initial thought was "well, he can only get better from here". At the young age of 16, with the support of PiG and the rest of the academy boys we hope that Matlo has it in him to one day graduate to the pro roster. Either way he's a great guy and it's certainly fun having him in the group.

Without further ado, here's a quick intro to x5Acad.Matlo.

Who am I

Hello my real name is Levi and my IGN is Matlo. Also I’m 16 years old, live in Townsville and play Terran.

Background in Starcraft

I started playing StarCraft brood war when I was 10 because it was one of the only games that would run on my desktop mac. I never played online so I was really bad. I stopped playing until about a year  go when I picked up StarCraft 2 which was my first real forage into competitive StarCraft. I started at bronze league and worked my way up to masters. I have also joined a few tournaments but I get clobbered every time :P.

What else do I do?

Not too much really although I do play some sports and obviously I have school.

What I'm great at

Do you want the whole list or just the top ten?

Most memorable moment in SC2

My most memorable moment was when I first got promoted to masters.

What are my goals

My goal is to improve as much as possible but my sub-goal is to get GM.

Something that no one knows about me

I’m pretty decent at chess and have been playing since I was about 6. I joined my school’s team and we usually come second which is kind of bitter sweet because if we win we can go to Brisbane for another chess tournament but on the flip side we came second.

Anything else to add?

I would just like to express my thanks to Exile5 for giving me this wonderful opportunity.
