ESL ANZ Championships strikes hot for 3 Exile5 Divisions
Esports fans all over ANZ rejoiced when ESL Australia gave a sneak peak of what they called #ANZChamps on April 13. Their original post was not so cryptic to leave out the games involved though - HearthStone, Counter Strike and Halo 5.
Much speculation ensued between players and fans alike. What could ESL Australia be cooking up? Was this an online tournament? Was it a major offline LAN? Which city could this be hosted in?!
Now all is revealed as ESL Australia formally announced the launch of the #ESLANZ Championships. Each previously revealed game - Counter Strike, HearthStone, Halo 5 - will feature their own online tournaments, with the top teams and players featured at a LAN for the finals. The in-studio finals are likely to be held at the ESL office in Sydney for the first Season.
This is fantastic news for Team Exile5 as we field players and teams in each one of those titles.
Hungry for more since their World Championships berth in February, our Halo 5 squad will want to continue to show their dominance in the ESL ANZ Championships. There has been much speculation as to the future of Halo 5 in ANZ in between World Champs season and this has slotted in quite nicely to allow all Halo 5 players in the region something to play for while they wait for their chance next year.
In Counter Strike, our team will be clamoring to prove themselves worthy after a disappointing CGPL season. While the results did not fall in our favour, the team as a whole has learned a lot about themselves and are rebuilding to ensure the next season will reflect their true skill and ability.
For our HearthStone players, r1pline and humans, this announcement will bring a lot of interest and excitement. Historically, there has not been many opportunities to excel outside of official Blizzard tournaments. ESL ANZ Championships will hopefully give all ANZ players more opportunities to grow the scene.
